I used the band for a week and here is my take about the new wearable by the renowned brand.
OnePlus has been an overall brand that gained huge popularity only in a couple of years. As per the latest gadget news India, we have seen that OnePlus becomes a smart band. With the smart ideology, the new OnePlus Band has bridged the gap for the brand itself. There is a segment that commenced with the series of smartwatches and band. And when it comes from a renowned brand, you will bound to believe and rely on to.
What is so different about OnePlus Band?
There is not much of the difference. The brand went with just going simple and elegant. It comes with a colour display, comfortable strap followed by the battery life of 14 days.
Being the company’s first foray welcoming the wearable segment, OnePlus India launched with an affordable fitness tracker. It helps in keeping track of your workouts, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, notifications and sleeping patterns.
Featuring in a single model, it does come with a removable strap design. The dimensions are pretty relevant to the ones, you will find in other fitness trackers. Weighs nearly around 22.6g with strap, you will hardly feel the weight on your wrist.
Specifications and Features
The strap has distinctive functionality maintaining firm length with a simpler clasp design. The plaint smooth material soothes your skins. Black, indeed is the colour. But if you are looking for any other combination, you may purchase additional coloured straps. It does feature two colour variants – Navy and Tangerine Gray.
The main tracker pops in and out of the strap when you are pushing in gently. You ought to do that whenever you are charging the band.
Speaking of the tracker and band, both are water-resistance. It features an IP68 rating that allows you to use the band even underwater.
Featuring 126*294 pixels AMOLED touchscreen, the display has vivid imagery with oversaturated colours. Even when you are under the sunlight, the display is legible.
As we are talking about the latest gadget review India, OnePlus band’s touchscreen performance is mediocre. The touch surface is restricted to one extent where you could easily navigate the UI with relative ease. Processing unit’s delay is mainly due to the hardware capabilities.
The band does not feature of the always-on display. OnePlus does not offer to wake detections. In comparison to other fitness trackers in the same price listing, OnePlus band needs more dramatic arm gestures to enhance their screening. Also, the display is on even when there is the slightest turn of your wrist.
When you seek my opinion, OnePlus band does not feature the always-on display. But wake detection is very responsive. I would rather say it is better than many other smartwatches in the market. With OnePlus band, you can raise your wakeup call or rather set it to notion within certain hours. In case, if you are sleeping with the band on, the screen could light up more often.
One thing that sets me off-track is when I disable Raise to wake, the screen just won’t turn on. In simpler words, if you are getting the gesture turned off, either manually your need to look at the screen or turn it off by covering your palm.
What are the 4 mains features?
Speaking of the features, the first one is monitoring and fitness tracking. The details of the segment are where we are getting to the latter part of the article. In the first functionality, the band will help in keeping track of your movement throughout the day. It will count your steps and also alert you if you are sitting for a long time.
During workout time, the band tracks different activities. This includes outdoor run, fat burn run, outdoor walk, indoor and outdoor cycling, rowing machine, elliptical trainer, pool swimming yoga and free training. People into sports could also acquire benefits with enhanced competitive offers.
Heart Rate Monitor
The OnePlus Band features an in-built heart rate monitor. You can set the same at regular timings. It may even alert you when you are resting. The heart rate is well structured and mannered to fit measurement when any of the work modes is enabled.
The band also has in-built pulse oximeter. It helps in measuring the circumferenced oxygen saturation or SpO2 levels. Valued at sea level of 96 per cent, the normal and consistent lower values could showcase symptoms of hypoxia. These days, the pulse oximeter will help in detecting COVID-19 symptoms. Currently, an oximeter has become something of dubious value to most of the people for being very useful.
How can I forget about the band tracking sleep patterns? This includes the tracking of complete sleep duration, deep sleep and light sleep durations. It will also check in to your SPO2 levels when you are sleeping.
All of the above-stated information about your daily health updates are collected and showcased on the new OnePlus Health App. This is available for Android devices. The structure is user-friendly and well designed where you can easily track n to the settings and features.
If you ask me about the overall experience of the band, the tracking performance is indeed splendid. The functionality is well incorporated and it becomes easier to check on the accuracy of the daily health updates. The new application by OnePlus helps in keep the correct track of all the important information for your enhancement.
What is the missing segment here?
OnePlus kind of forgot on mentioning two important features. This is mainly about the menstrual tracking nd stress monitoring. I hope if they are working on the upgrade or a newer model. they would be implementing these core features into their band.
Coming to the overall outlook of the band, you also have the leverage to controlling your music playback with the help of the band. Right from setting alarms, timers and also a stopwatch, the band is equally useful for taking remote pictures paired with your phone.
Receiving phone notification of your band is there. You have the option to choose to push notification. The display of the band is decent. But the drawback here is that the band does not sync notifications to the phone. You need to clear it separately.
The new OnePlus band will offer you limited face customization. The health application is now offering 37 watch faces. Some of which have common designs. You may even set your photo to the watch face.
Out of the 37 watch faces, some are pretty alluring to look for while some do not go with the flow. The one that I like is the Classic Set. It has two designs that could showcase the accuracy fo the hour and time. Also, OnePlus Band entitled you to store up 5 watch faces on the band. Though the transferring and Bluetooth speed is tedious work.
OnePlus Band claims to acquire 14 days of battery life. The change is towards the positive side. It could only occur to default settings if you ask me. Because if you are upgrading the changes in the brightness, timer and tracking functionality, it could last only a week. Again, that is even on the positive note.
When you will be charging the band, you need to pop the tracker out of its strap every time. But then doing the work, once a week, it is not that of a tiring job. Priced at Rs 2499, OnePlus Band has a similar price range between Mi Smart Band 5. But it does lack some of the functionality which we find in the latter.
My Experience of Using The Band
I used the band for nearly a week now. I am pretty satisfied with the overall performance of the band. The functionality and features are decent for the price. The monitoring and health application works quite well for me. Speaking about the software experience, it is quite user-friendly and does have the probability of improvement with future updates. Overall, when it comes to the wearables category, I think, this is decent but could be upgraded to more enhanced features and functionality.
