We tested with the all new hyped 2020 Nissan Magnite, the car looks promising but is it really work the purchase?
Right from the launch to hit the Indian market, Nissan Magnite is all over the news with sheer popularity. The new car is featured with a turbo petrol engine that looks graceful with automatic transmission. Once the price of the car came to display, it was clear that Nissan is all set to hit the market with a higher success rate with well marketing strategies. The question that you might be wondering in your mind as to if you should be taking your hands on the new SUV released by Nissan.
The new Magnite is a well-crafted sub-compact SUV. Redesigning just does not stop right in the middle. The overhangs are well fitted. Right at the first view, you will see the kick replacement. But if you have a closer look at the car, the Magnite is not as wide in the direct rivalry.
To enthuse you with knowledge, Nissan Magnite has come through with a modified version of the CMF-A+ platform.
The outlook of this compact SUV is just so perfect. Featuring 205mm of ground clearance, it also features 16inch alloy wheels in addition to functional roof rails, depending on the base variant.
The new Magnite does have similarity right with the Nissan Kick in general. Kudos to the headlamps and black contrast lower lips venting away to fog lights.
On the other hand, the grille design is cent percent original. The concept of the making of the car does have a distinctive approach for its consumers.
Single projector LED headlights feature both low and high beams along with multi-reflected pilot lights. It is well complimenting the LED fog lamps and LED turn indicators placed right above the headlights.
If you look across through the side profile, it does have a sporty look. The feature is all about diamond-cut alloy wheels and large roof spoiler. The wheel arch cladding is all indents for reflectors, though you do have the option to select for the colour range.
Colour variants – Brown, Black, White and Silver. The contract tone of the colours looks outstandingly well.
In comparison to the front side of the car, the rear end comes with a thick dose of cladding. It is well-curated with turbo and CVT badges in the devotion to the type of car that you are driving. Wiper and washer come to the standard feature.
Interior Specification of the car –
The interior specification does come with a beautiful set of outlook in it with the play of indicator. It does have a well-crafted cabin enhancing both the style and functionality. The clutter-free layout does have functionality styling features making it look out of the box.
The AC vents are hexagonal in shape that comes with a sporty feel. In addition to the same, it has silver and chrome highlights. The finishing quality is very smooth. The fitment quality is well crafted with a centre console that comes with flexibility. Footwell does have proper spacing with larger feet space.
The Magnite does have the best specification of the cabin space. The front and rear seats do have the full support of tall seaters and have good headroom space with 6feet height.
The best space is the cabin storage. All four door pockets have good space in holding up to 1 litre of a water bottle and can even hold both cups and larger bottles. What furthermore can hold is a wallet, phone, wireless phone charging pad, USP port and even 12V socket.
Right at 336 litres, the boot space some with a rear seat ratio of 60:40 for all variants. The loading lip on the higher stop does have a good lift.
You will just see the input of the right amount of frills in the all-new Magnite. The best that we have come across is the 7-inch instrument cluster giving way to the game-like interface.
Just that you know, the data on the digital cluster will be showcasing you with the time, boot ajar warning, outside temperature display, drive mode, fuel consumption details and type pressure status. The cluster is well operated through the steering-mounted controls.

The sound quality is well quite decent if you say as it has use of JBL Premium speakers. If you do love loud music then it is better to look for an outside option to fit in.
Car technology of Nissan Connect is only offered with the XV Premium Turbo which is optional. Furthermore, there is the functioning of vehicle tracking, speed alert, geofencing and vehicle health data.
Driving Modes And Factors-
Nissan offers Magnite with 2 petrol engines. It does have an option for diesel too. Here are some of the mentions of turbo petrol in both manual and CVTs.
Let’s mention about the engine specification at the first place –
Engine – 1.0 litre, 3 cylinders naturally aspirated engine that is powered with 72PS @6250rpm and a torque of 96Nm @3500rpm. Further, it is featured with a 5-speed manual transmission with 18.75 kmpl claimed fuel efficiency.
Another engine is the 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder turbocharged that has a maximum power of 100PS @ 5000rpm. Where the torque varies in terms of 160Nm @ 2800-3600rpm (MT) / 152Nm @ 2200-4400rpm (CVT). It does have 5 speed manual/CVT transmission and 20kmpl (MT) / 17.7kmpl (CVT) claimed efficiency fuel.
Right with the idealization, some vibes that come to the cabin is the smoothness that you move in. Magnite is a pretty easy going city car and offers to commute, zip through traffic or make quick overtakes. You could find some of the noticeable lag before the turbocharger kicks in around 1800 rpm. On the other hand, the motor does have a boost for low-speed driving.
The new car is quite punchy to stressing out on high speed overtakes if you are on the right gear. If you are asking, which version to pick? Well, go for CVT. The newer version to the car has engine strength and is well responsive to throttle inputs.
Magnite’s ride quality is solid. It adapts well to bad roads and potholes pretty well. Just covering flawless riding experience through imperfections. On the sharper bumper, the suspension noise is pretty audible.
While if you are observing through their handling front, the Magnite is aiming well on daily basis use. The steering is light and you can just dig in right into the corners. The suspension does not feel that soft while taking through the curves and corners. During the brakes, a slightly vague feeling at the pedal could be enough bite but no feel to the pressure.
It does have standard safety specification over safety font with dual front airbags ABS with EBD. It has rear parking sensors.
ISOFIX child seats offered in the segment of XL Turbo, XV and XV Premium grades.
The XV has a rear camera while the XV Premium has the feature of the 360-degree camera and tyre pressure monitor.
All the turbo variants come along with traction control, stability control, hill start assist and brake assist. But the only thing that is not available in any of the variants is the curtain airbags.
Comes with a starting price of between Rs 4.99 lakh – Rs 9.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Nissan Magnite does have a very flaunting perception and could be in a better position in comparison to its rivals. Applicable till 31st December, the package comes with some limitations.
