Finally, there comes the latest auto news for the Indian market. MG Motor India is revealing its all-electric car. MG has been mentioning about the ZS EV for a long time. The launch of the car is going to be in December 2019. The brand will be unveiling the car in the country.
Booking for the electric car will start on 5th December 2019. As soon as the car is revealed, it has been slated for launch for January 2020. MG Motor India will be launching the ZS EV only in 5 cities in India. These include the major metropolitan cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
The dimensions and features of the car are going to be the same as the one sold in the UK. The compact electric SUV will be powered by a synchronous motor. It will be churning out at 141 bhp and 353 Nm of peak torque. The model also comes with a 44.5 kWh battery pack. It also presents you with a range of 300 km on a single charge. Could be charged up to 80 percent in 40 seconds, the lithium-ion comes with 50 kW DC charger. It takes up to 7 hours through a standard 7kW charger.
Also, there is going to be a bigger battery pack. It could be a rival to the Hyundai Kona which launched earlier this year. There is one benediction for sure. Again, the range that MG ZS EV will be offering is something to consider.
Though there has been no official figure presented by the company, the number more than 400 km on a single charge is the talk of the town. Sources reveal the official information will be revealed on 5th December 2019. Speaking of the dimensions, the MG ZS EV is 4314 mm long, 1809 mm wide while it stands 1620 mm tall. The space between the wheels is 2579 mm, so there will be decent roof space on offer.
Inside, the MG ZS EV will feature an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also has a flat bottomed steering wheel, USB mobile charging function at the front and rear, Bluetooth functionality as well as rearview parking camera. There will be also the incorporation of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on offer as also a panoramic sunroof.
Coming to the design, the MG ZS EV looks smarts and gets decent proportions. It features a bold diamond finished grilled upfront, swooping bonnet and a curved roofline. The SUV is a crossover type than butch. It also provides you with the electric appeal of the model.
Being the country’s first 50 kW DC fast-charging stations in different cities, MG Motor India will be creating the charging infrastructure for supporting EV sales. The automaker has collaborated with Fortum India for the installation of the charging network. It will set up the same at its showrooms where it will be revealed its launch as stated before.
