MG Motor had committed to follow up with the Hector that will be with four new SUVs in India by early 2021. One of the expected ones will be Maxus D90 SUV. It has been seen undergoing the testing process in India. SAIC group which is mainly MG and Maxus’ parent company presented a 2.0-litre diesel engine. This is a well-equipped variant of the SUV at the ongoing Guangzhou Auto Show.
Where else are you finding the connection?
This body on frame, full-size SUV has been the rival of Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner. It is until now equipped with just a turbo-petrol engine in the Chinese market. So mainly, the new engine underwent a twin-turbo diesel unit. This unit delivers 215PS and 480Nm of torque.
It comes coupled to the same with 8th-speed ZF-sourced automatic transmission as the petrol engine.
You will be able to view the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine will get updated to meet Euro 6b emission standards. Thus, you may expect familiar emission levels from the upcoming diesel engine. Furthermore, it will help in meeting the soon to be incorporated BS6 standard at the same time.
Also, the SUV will get an N365 AWD system from BorgWarner that will add to its off-road credentials.
As in for India, its rival is Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Mahindra Alturas G4. It is going to get a new name when it comes to India which will be in the second half of 2020. It is pretty early to estimate the prices of the SUV model. But we here may expect it to cost somewhere between Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. It may become the flagship SUV for MG in India.
