In coming days, the vehicle market will witness a new kid on the ground. Revolt Motors will launch its much hyped fully electric motorcycle, RV 400 on 7th August 2019. Though the bike was unveiled back in June, it is open for pre-booking for Rs 1000. Ex-showroom price is expected to be around Rs 1lakh.
Company CEO, Rahul Sharma say that the motorcycle is India’s first AI power vehicle, with features that are in sync with today’s electronically driven world and is built for generation Y (marketed as ‘ why ‘ ).
When talks of electric vehicles start, the first question is about range. RV 400 offers a smart answer to that question, with a practically impressive range of 156km on a single full charge. On the design front, the bike is actually a ‘ kid ‘ as the lines and aesthetics are fresh and aggressive, the compact design on the flip gives the bike its small proportions.
RV 400 is being touted as the bike of tomorrow. That statement is may or may not be completely accurate but the bike surely is a smart mobility solution. There are features that are first of its kind in Indian market (sometimes ‘ gimmicky ‘ ) and most of them are impressive. There is all-LED lighting with full digital console. The bike has a full connectivity with your smartphone over Revolt App. There is also key-less start through the app command. The bike also comes with a connected helmet that lets you give voice commands. The digital console connected to the phone give real time metrics and ride report, like battery charge, range left, time taken and other such information.
On the riding front, the product offers 3 riding modes and the new artificial exhaust note feature, that lets you select a pseudo exhaust sound for your bike with more updates to come through mobile OTA. This feature also tends to be new in the Indian motorcycle market. Then there is in-built geo-fencing that lets the owner of the bike track it in real time and restrict the bike to certain area in case of a theft. This feature too is a smart and fresh option at such price point.
A place where Revolt hits the home run, is the charging part. The estimated time taken for full charge is expected to be 4 hours but that is not all. Revolt has come up with a solution to tackle the infrastructure problem for battery charging. The bike can be charged at your home as the battery is portable and the rider can even exchange batteries at Revolt stations. Moreover a battery can be ordered through the app to be delivered at your home. This move comes as a great deal for electric vehicles.
As the bike is completely connected to your phone and a lot of features are controlled by the app, it will keep getting timely updates from the company through OTA.More information about performance and ride features will be made public once the bike is launched. Until then, we will have to gush about all that we know now.
