Italian superbike manufacturer Benelli has finally made its way to India on 22nd October 2019. The classic model Imperiale 400 in India has been priced at 1.69 lakhs. Benelli has launched the most affordable motorcycle in India. It states to be the direct rival to the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Jawa in the segments.
The New Imperials is also known to be the company’s first offering in the classic bike space. It is one of the most awaited models after it was unveiled worldwide in 2017. Recollecting from the brand’s strong heritage, Imperiale 400 is the reinterpreted of the Benelli MotoBi range. It had been gaining popularity back in the 1950s. Speaking of the bookings, Imperiale 400 is now open for a token amount of Rs 4000 all over the company’s dealerships as well as their website.
Let’s delve into the specifications
Imperiale 400 gain the all-new SOHC powered by 399 cc. It is formulated with single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled BS4 engine that comes with electronic fuel injection.
The highest power produced is 21PS at 5,500rpm along with a torque output of 29Nm at 4,500rpm. Furthermore, it is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
The bike rides on 41mm telescopic front forks. It has got preload-adjustable dual shock absorbers which you will find at the rear. The braking performance comes from the 300mm disc upfront with a two-piston floating calliper.
There is another 240mm disc with single-piston calliper at the rear. It comes with dual-channel ABS. This mainly helps in ensuring an effective and balanced braking system.
The Benelli Imperiale 400 has got a compact double-cradle frame. It underpins the bike and the design language maintaining the old school charm with a round headlamp. It also has a teardrop fuel tank and the chrome and black finished engine and exhaust.
The bike gets on riding through spoked wheels with a 19-inch unit at the front and an 18-inch wheel at the rear. It is wrapped in 110/90 and 130/80 section tubed tyres.
Benelli India is offering the Imperial 400 with a three year/unlimited kilometre warranty. It comes in the form of standard complementary services for the first 2 years.
The company has further introduced in an Annual Maintenance Contract for hassle-free customer experience. This will be acquired after completing the first 2 years. The Benelli Imperiale 400 is finally available in 3 outstanding colour variants – Red, Silver and Black.
What does the director say?
Speaking about the launch, Vikas Jhabakh, Managing Director, Benelli India stated that they are enthusiastic about launching the exciting series of models in the last two months that too in the Indian market. This further proves Benelli’s core commitment to India.
“..We are betting big on the segment, with the launch of the Imperiale 400 and are confident of capturing a significant market share with several dealership launches set to take place, to ensure that our services and the Imperiale 400 are within reach for every rider out there.”, says Vikas.
Available in 3 different colour variants, Black and Red come commanding Rs 10,000 more than the standard price of the bike. Benelli has also started with the pre-booking during the last week of September this year.
Sources have disclosed that in 23 days from the debut, the bike has acquired a total of 352 bookings. The Imperiale 400 is currently being the most affordable offering in India. And due to this, the number of bookings rising is not a surprise in the Indian market.
Benelli is currently having 24 touchpoints in India. The two-wheeler manufacturer now delves into increasing the number to 30 by the end of 2019. Apart from this, the brand is also envisioning at double the number of touchpoints by 2020l.
